this event is designed to immerse you in your new community. during each virtual session, you will learn about the dedicated resources and student support offices built to guide your journey, and get a taste of how easy it is to get involved on campus. you will have a chance to meet your future classmates and learn about your checklist items you need to complete before coming to campus this spring. you will also have a chance to meet with faculty members to talk about your classes and course registration for the spring semester.

new student orientation is designed to:

  • prepare you for your mount journey, both academically and socially.
  • show you what it means to be a mountie.
  • connect you with your new community and resources.
  • provide experiences for you to build relationships with fellow mounties, professors and administrators.
  • share an authentic sense of school pride with you.
  • help you transition to college life.

orientation spring to-do timeline

1. register for virtual spring orientation

new student orientation will be held virtually on december 17. we cannot wait to see you there! registration is now open. please click the link below to learn more and to register.

2. set up your mount email

the mount’s it department will email the personal email account you listed on your application with your official mount email address and student portal user name and password. be sure to login to your new office 365 mount email and change your standard issued password.

3. register for spring courses

consider this job done! our provost's office is working hard to build you a schedule that is tailored to fit you! once your spring course schedule is created, a member of our team will reach out to you to review this with you and discuss any potential changes you may want to make.

4. start your housing application

please contact residence life at to get your housing application!

if you require additional accommodations for housing or academics, the office of learning services is designed to provide you with accommodations and support services to ensure proper accessibility.

5. pay your enrollment deposit and tuition bill

the office of accounting and finance handles all tuition payments and is committed to making the process as smooth as possible for you and your family. you may pay your bill in full or on a scheduled payment plan. you may also choose to assign a pin for your parent/guardian so they can make a payment on your tuition account.

Accounting & Finance Timeline

  • pay your enrollment deposit by december 1.
  • set up your mount email. (the mount’s it department will email you with your student portal user name and password and mount email address which will be sent to your personal email address.)
  • set up your parent pin to allow your parents to pay on your account.
  • you will receive your accounting welcome letter and financial consent form via your mount email address.
  • Financial consent form due to the Accounting & Finance Office five days after receiving letter.
  • confirm that your financial aid paperwork is complete.
  • november 23 - spring billing statement will be sent to you via your mount email address.
  • december 15 - first payment due. pay your account in full (less pending financial aid) or enroll in the monthly payment plan.

6. complete your required health forms

health services offers convenient services for all mount students and staff in partnership with frederick regional health system. our experienced health care professionals provide evaluation and treatment for a variety of illnesses and injuries, preventive health check-ups, immunizations and periodic health monitoring.

every student is required to mail your health forms to the address indicated before you arrive to campus. in addition, athletes will have to complete another set of health forms for the athletic department.

7. upload your mountcard id photo (due by january 20)

please click the link below to upload your own id image online by january 20. review the instructions carefully before submission to ensure your photo will be accepted.

8. review academic resources and accommodations offered by learning services

learning services provides academic support services and study strategies for all students through one-on-one appointments and study strategy sessions.

learning services also provides housing and academic accommodations for students with documented disabilities.
